Shrine To The Radiolarian Warrior
380mm x 760mm
Developed out of inspiration of drawings done by noted German biologist and philosopher Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919). Throughout his career he made careful drawings of (amongst many others) of the deep-sea and microscopic life that had been made possible by the improved scientific apparatus of the 19th century. One of his special fields of interest was the group of one-celled marine animals called radiolarians, with their incredibly varied and fascinating shapes. These represent ecological strata we never ordinarily see. 2006
